Who we are
In 2008, an abandoned Jack Russell Terrier arrived at Pittsford Animal Hospital in desperate need of care. The compassionate staff rallied together, raising funds to save the little dog they lovingly named "Hope." Not only did Hope make a full recovery, but the remaining funds sparked something beautiful — and Rochester Hope for Pets was born.
As veterinarians and devoted pet parents ourselves, we understand the profound bond between people and their animals. We've witnessed the heartbreak when loving owners face an impossible choice: surrender their cherished companion or watch them suffer simply because they can't afford necessary medical care. No pet should lose their life, and no family should lose their beloved friend due to financial barriers.
Our mission is clear: to champion the sacred bond between people and their pets by providing crucial financial assistance for emergency medical and surgical care.
We believe every pet deserves a fighting chance, and every loving owner deserves support during their most challenging moments. Through our programs and efforts, we transform desperate situations into stories of hope, healing, and second chances.
As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, we exist because of the incredible generosity of donors throughout the Rochester community and beyond. Every contribution, large or small, directly impacts the lives of pets and families in need. Together, we're proving that hope truly can save lives — just like it did for one little Jack Russell Terrier who started it all.
We couldn't do this vital work without you.
